Angela Chaisson to Speak on Privacy Litigation at the Ontario Bar Association
On December 8th at 12pm one of our lawyers, Angela Chaisson, will be included on a panel discussing privacy litigation and updates on privacy torts with the Ontario Bar Association.
Ontario’s new tort of “publicity placing a person in a false light” was first recognized in 2019 by the Superior Court of Justice in the case of Yenovkian v. Gulian and awards both compensatory and punitive damages to the wronged party.
Over the last year and a half, the new privacy tort has resulted in changes to how individuals conduct themselves and businesses protect privacy. Join our panel of experts as they bring you up to speed on the latest case law in this area, how it has expanded and where it is expected to go in the years ahead.
Angela regularly litigates privacy issues, and you can reach her by phone at 416 920 6179 to discuss any privacy related litigation issues. Links and further information about the panel to follow.
